An anesthetic topical cream may be applied prior to the light exposure. The technician will then apply the Levulan and you will incubate anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours (over several sessions).
Is the treatment painful?
During the treatment you may feel stinging, tingling, prickling, or burning of the lesions, but this should go away about 7 hours after the treatment. There should be some discomfort similar to a sunburn, but no significant pain.
